GVI questions (long winded)

I'm in the process of reviving a GVI, originally LP, but now on gas.First question, where would I find a new lower rad hose? Haven't had any luck with my local suppliers, but I don't mind mail ordering for parts. Next questions are about the hydraulics- this tractor has the early Webster pump, and two Char-Lynn valves. The setup looks correct, with the right pressure control valve. Does this system require the original type "locked circuit cylinders", or can regular cylinders be used? Can one cylinder float? The factory specified fluid is MM 10P 706. What is a good modern replacement for this? Temperatures in our area run from about 0F to 85F.
I like my Prairie Gold, and enjoy reading this forum. Help is always appreciated. Thanks, unc

Two months ago, I was able to obtain the lower radiator hose from my local AGCO dealer. I use a standard hydraulic fluid. I believe you can use a standard hydraulic cylinder with your valve, but not sure. My GVI has been converted to a Cross valve. Good luck.

Yes any cylinder. But there is no float. The hyd levers are supposed to lock in, both up and down and kick out at the end of the stroke. But unless the tractor is running at full speed don't count on it . Good idea when using check with your hand so you don't burn up a pump.

I think a NAPA store like ours locally could come up with a radiator hose that would work, sometimes it's a section of a different application hose, with part of it having the right bends- have to take the old one in and match it up.

Thanks for the replies. I have to go to a neighbouring town tomorrow, and I'll try the Agco dealer there. I'll give the hydraulic system a good cleaning and tune-up, and try a couple of regular cylinders. Good advice on the valves maybe not kicking off when they should- I've run into that one before. It can make life exciting real quick! Thanks, unc
