GTB Reproduction Manifold Question?

Hello, we are restoring a 1952 GTB and need some help in identifying how the Steiner reproduction intake and exhaust manifolds interchange with the originals found on the model U's and GTB's. Our exhaust manifold is toast but the intake is pristine.

Here is some information first:
According to Steiner, reproduction exhaust manifold MMS001 replaces KE 821G on all the U series models, but will only work on the G series with the purchase of their new reproduction intake manifold (MMS013) which replaces KE 822A.

This I find hard to believe. I purchased one of the reproduction manifolds approximately 6 years ago and installed it on my KTA, which was equipped intake manifold KE 822A. (The same as found on the GTB we are working on). The manifold bolted right onto the KTA and there were no issues with how it mated to the intake that was originally on the tractor.

Is there a difference between the exhaust manifold found on the U and G series tractors (depth, width, ear position, etc?) or is this Steiner just trying to sell additional parts?

Just look at the pictures of the Steiner I @ E manifolds. It will be very obvious if your I manifold will work with the new E manifold.

It has to do with the number of bolts
attaching the intake to the exhaust.
The U has two and the G has three. I
would have a used intake to match
either style much cheaper than a
recast. I have no exhausts that are
any good. 308-940-0255. Thanks Jeff

I may be muddying the water further, but I put a 403 power unit engine in a '54 UTS once.

The 403 manifold was somewhat wider in distance from the head and maybe a bit taller too than the regular U manifold. I remember having to cut one of the loops off the heat riser-The part you turn to vary the heat on the intake runner- so that the hood would fit on the tractor.

Eventually the manifold failed-cracked-and I put a later style U Manifold on the tractor. The new intake located the carburetor about 2" higher than original on the 403 so then I had to make a longer governor link to reach from the governor arm up to the carburetor.

That said, I think you can put the reproduction U manifold that steiner sells on your tractor, and it will look o.k.-not original, mind you, but o.k. and work o.k.- but be aware you may have to make a longer governor link to reach up to the carburetor.

Thank you for all the responses. It is much appreciated. I am convinced the repro exhaust manifold will bolt on with the intake we have. I intend on calling Steiner directly and hear what they have to say.
