U Diesel Hour Meter

Not sure how to read this. How many hours on this U Diesel, SN 05002200. I think it is 4735.87 Hours?

WOW! That is interesting. Never seen one like that before but I agree on the reading. How does that outer hand move? Up thru a slot in the face?

Very common meter for tractors from the 50's before built in tachometers were used. Your guess is correct, but I think the little meter just ran like the second hand on a clock to show that the meter was counting.

Actual reading is 7435. Meter was an option an most commonly seen on U or UB diesels. Have repaired a couple.

You sure it isn't 4735 hours? That's what I read.

Have one in my hand. Reads like a clock. Smallest hand highest then d second and so on. Made by John W Hobbs for MM. TOO early in morning! It is 4700 hrs. They run on 12v. Were availble in 1955.

I got one, it takes oil pressure, to activate the electrical part of it, and when those two things are present, it's working.
