I've got a 1940s I believe RTU that me and grandpa restored growing up, unfortunately he passed before I was able to learn the ins and outs of it, we got it up and running two weeks ago for the first time in 2 years but the radiator fan squeaks and makes all kinds of noise. Any thoughts? I'm thinking a bad bushing or bearing? We did put some oil in there and didnt seem to help

Take the plug out of the side of the fan bearing housing. fill it 1/2 full motor oil. The oil is supposed to work through the sintered brass to lubricate the shaft.

if it has been drilled through and a grease fitting installed where the plug is supposed to be, fill it with grease until it comes out the back. (But as you use it you will have to grease it pretty often.)

It depends. The cavity was originally supposed to have oil in it, and the oil would work through the bearing.

If nobody drilled a hole through the bushing so the grease can get through it to the shaft, you may wait quite a while for it to quit squeaking.
