I have a Massey Harris 333 I bought in the fall. Got it running. Hydraulics work. Clutch pedal moves about three inches forward and does nothing. The hand clutch is there but the bottom part of the lever is not attached to anything. Is there anything to adjust here or could the hand clutch be the problem or do I have to split the tractor?

The live pto hand clutch is likely bypassed, being known for slipping under load. Sounds like you may have release bearing issues on the foot clutch, it should travel 6 inches or more. No split needed to repair, but you will have to pull the motor and clutch housing out as a unit for repair.

Forget the hand clutch, it's to disconnect the right side differential for live PTO use only. The main flywheel clutch needs to work for starting/stopping the tractor, engine needs slid forward to remove the bell housing for main clutch repair.

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone know of a youtube video or a book that explains how to fix this clutch? I've never done a clutch before-- I'm not a real mechanic -- I'm a farmer who doesn't mind fixing things...or trying to learn at least.

The top backside of bellhousing has a cover with 4 bolts, having a look inside there is a good starting point to what is happening or not maybe a critter nest in there. You may need to remove battery box to get a better view inside.Should see clutch fork move with peddle, throw out bearing move forward to contact clutch fingers, fingers should depress to release clutch pressure. 3inch travel sounds very short. Good luck
