MF 65 Sets bush hog down while bush hogging

Hello experts,

I have a MF65. While I'm bush hogging with it, everything will be going well until I hear the blades slow down and it just sets the bush hog down. I have to clutch in and rev it up and picks back up but then sets down again a hundred or so feet later.

Where should I start looking?

Get a set of height stabilizing chains like the ones in this link.

You adjust these to set the elevation of the deck when lowered for mowing. The teardrop plates for adjustment are held by the same pin as the top link and the plates with the chains attached go on the implement lift arm pins, with the arms. They take the load off the hydraulics and stop the arms from dropping below the elevation you adjust the chains to. then when you lower the deck, it stops at the same elevation every time. Makes life a lot simpler when mowing.

Are you familiar with how to set the control levers to hold position? If not; do you have the Owner's/Operator's manual which explains the different positions of the 3 point control? You may have some internal leakage but being sure the levers are correctly set is the first step.

Your p.t.o. clutch must be slipping. It may be shot if it has been slipping for very long. I'd try adjusting it to the manual specs. before you give up on it.
