Manual pump primer

My 1972 Massey Ferguson 135 diesel doesnt have a manual pump to bleed the lines. I changed my fuel filter for the first time today and couldnt find the manual primer pump when I went to bleed the system. Did the later 135s not have a manual primer pump? I opened the bleeder valves and let gravity do the work. Tractor started and ran great. Still wonder about the manual primer pump.

Should be a lever on the bottom of the fuel strainer/pump that you manually pump to get it bled according to agcopartsbook. Sometimes you have to barely bump the starter to get full movement of the lever. If you don't have one an Operators Manual would be valuable. Glad gravity worked for you:)

Thanks - I do have a manual and it said the manual lever was where you indicated - its just not there on my pump. I keep looking but I dont see one. Odd

It's not beyond the realm of possibilities that at some point in the past the lever and spring could have been pulled/forced off. I've seen that on one where a locust branch grabbed one while bush hogging and ripped it loose. Luckily caught it in time. If you get a part number off of agcopartsbook you may be able to get a new one...OR buy a new fuel pump and it will come with it. Good Luck!
