175 3pt issue

A friend of mine just bought a 175. When he starts the tractor the lift arms go the whole way up and he has no control. Part of the cover was replaced before he bought the tractor and I'm thinking a control rod under the cover might have slipped out of place when the cover was installed. I had a similar problem with a 65 I had. Any info would be appreciated.

For a 135, 35 50, should be similar for a 175.
Sounds like the pump is continuously pumping, the lift cover engagement may not be setup correctly, remove a bit of oil form the the back end, approx 2 gal. then remove the right side cover and look at the arms they should both be in front.

The later 100 series is not like the 35, 50, 65 models at all, the roller NEEDS removed before the lift cover is removed. Lift cover damage WILL result if roller is not removed first..

The photo above is of the control lever setup in a 35-65 not a 100
series tractor. When in the raising position the pump control valve
lever will be leaning rearwards. Using sensible hand pressure check
that the cv lever moves freely with the spring loading moving it
rearwards.

On the 35-65 systems the pump control has to moved back to lower the hitch. On the 100 series and later the pump control is moved front to lower the hitch Remove the RH side cover and with tractor shut off move the control levers the pump control should move according. if not you have damaged linkage or need it adjusted. It should have been adjusted before the cover was installed back on the rear housing, then final adjusted is made thru that side cover.
