Injector pump leaking

MF loader with Perkins A-3 152 3 cyl diesel (I think!!).

Runs ok but fuel is leaking down into oil pan!!

Drained oil & fuel from pan then with plug out (of oil pan) I poured diesel into tank... and moments later I have fuel dripping from drain plug hole in oil pan!! This is with motor NOT running...

So I feel like fuel is leaking through the injector pump and down into the oil pan directly. Does this make sense?? Am I crazy?

This is an old & very well worn tractor from the mid 60's but winter is coming on and I need to use it!! Please help!!

If you have an idea or experience with a problem like this I would love to hear all about it!!!

Thank you very much... Loren

While it MIGHT be the injection pump, I'd start with replacing the FEED pump on the other side of the engine block first. They can fail over time and put fuel into the
oil also. I have been seeing more injection pump drive seals leaking on pump tear down/inspection too.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply!!! I believe this has a gravity feed from the tank?? but if not ... sounds like same problem different pump.

The feed pump Dieseltech is referring to
looks like this. This is on a 3cyl perkins
on a 50 Massey.

From what I'm seeing and reading here
it's your fuel lift pump you have a
problem with not the injector pump.
Check for hairline cracks where the fuel
pipes screw in as this is just puiter and
cracks at the above mentioned areas very
easily if over tightened.

After that check the glass bowl is
central to the rubber washer at the top
and tightened tight.

Thanks again to all of you! I checked it out and yes there is a lift pump (no glass bowl) so tomorrow I will pull it out and see if it is leaking fuel into the crankcase.

I will post again in a day or 2 to tell the tale...

Yes it was the lift pump! As a way of testing I un-bolted the pump from the block then added fuel to tank. Soon I had fuel dripping out of the pump body around the foot / lever that drives the pump! After removing the pump & opening it up I found a cut in the diaphragm caused by rust build up!

The new lift pump is on the way so thank you all for your help!!
