Well things here in Ga. are back to normal after not having power for several days, lucky not much damage having the eye of Michael pass right thru the county as a cat 1. But I have the lift cover ready to pull and need to know if there is anything further needed to disconnect prior to pulling the cover? The lift is frozen in the down position on the 245. Once inside is it possible to pull the pump without splitting the transmission?

I was telling Miner it looked like the hurricane went right over your area. I am glad everything is OK with you. Did it drown any ants? That's be nice.
Would it be easier for you to just swap arsends? They are a generation apart, might be best to just roll the bell housing away? You are going to spend a lot of time leaning over a small square hole, I dunno...

Dem dar aints survived dand it.
The 245 tranny housing has 3 bolts up top that the 204 doesn't have so I could swap just the diesel where the gas was before but then all the throttle and tank stuff to contend with. Thought if it was something simple then no swap. Funny how I forgot about the rops on tractor an pulled into my door bending it all up.

I pulled the top cover a few years ago on my Dad's 245. I was able to put a chain on it and lift it up by hand but it was heavy. I used an engine lift to put it back on :) There is a small piece attached to the longest lift lever that you need to pull out before you pull the cover. There have been some pics posted on here before that show what needs to be done. Might want to do a search using the search function on "Modern" view. Also I seem to remember some pics posted by ptfarmer and Bob that would be very useful. Others too have posted pics but I can't remember who they were, maybe DavidP of south wales? Good luck with it and keep your fingers clear ;-) I don't know about pulling the pump, sorry.

I have NEVER worked on a MF 245:

However, here are some Pictures of my MF FE 35 X.I had to remove the COUPLING after assembly to align a bracket...control fingers with control on new HYD. Pump:

Here are PICS off YT TRACTOR .....looks like lift controls were not calibrated / set properly:

Lift BAR worked well as I usually have no helper:

Something about pulling the lift cover and splitting on my MF 565, this has Mark 3 version of the lift hydraulics. I don't know if 245 has this or older version:

I had to split to get the lift pump out, because of 1000/540 rpm lowering gear wheels on PTO. I don't know if 245 has these or not, but MF with option to ground speed PTO can't have them and the pump should come out without splitting. Splitting is not that difficult, if tractor is without cabin.

Very informative, have read a lot about causes of lift cover cracks and have not considered repercussions of loose bolts. I'll have to check torque specs on my others. THANKS!
