pulled tractor apart was leaking engine oil in clutch housing found rear main seal hard . ifeal that this was the cause . ipulled bearing cap off put a cut o rig on sides tight fit should not leak there going on with cap it is flush with the block at the oil pan side its a little out from the block at the bearing have tried lots of times to get it flush any help will be helpful thanks ahead of time mike :? :?

Forget trying to seal it that way. Clean the cap grooves, and block area, put cap back in place and fill each groove with your favorite tube sealer. Long as it's clean it will seal fine when it sets up.

thanks I thought about that but was told not to but will the bearing go in and be flush top and bottom with block

Yes, bearing should be flush on both cap and block. There's also a small area where the sealer will squirt out at the front and back of the cap-block mating area. Keep sealer away from the bearing area.
