M.H 50 What implements would require on to use ground drive on PTO. 50 has 2 PTO setting pull to engage PTO. Push down to engage for ground drive

Once useful for some planters and very handy when unplugging a small square baler pulled by a small tractor. Simply put it in low R and back up.

be cautious. ... I have a MF and there is something in the manual about engaging that and then NEVER going in to reverse,.... or something. Anyway, I have mine permanently blocked off with a steel angle iron.

I think one official use for the ground speed pto
was to operate the Ferguson hay rake

another unofficial use of the ground speed pto.

if you ever get your post hole digger hung in a hole and it will not come out. (it happens in the best of families)

jack one rear wheel up off the ground, hold the brake on the other rear wheel so tractor does not move, engage ground speed pto, place the tractor in low/reverse, slowly let out the clutch,

if all works properly, the post hole digger auger will turn in reverse and unscrew itself out of the hole.

(this little Ferguson option is nice to know, if you ever have used a post hole digger)

otherwise, if you have another brand tractor, just grab your big pipe wrench and get to work trying to unscrew the auger out of the ground.

Some of the old buggy type fertilizer spreaders used ground pto. Since most of the new tractors just have independent pto, the new buggy fertilizer spreaders uses a wheel that you engage to one of the tires on the buggy to run the spreader. I tried my MF25 3 point pto drive hay rake on cattle grazer, the ground pto won't spin the rake fast enough for the heavy cattle grazer, you have to use live pto.

attached is a picture of the optional ground speed pto reducer you had to have when using a TO30 tractor and Ferguson pto driven hay rake.

I assume the this was before the ground speed option was installed on the TO35 and newer tractors.

bet one of these in working order would be a prized find.
