MF 203 Wiring Help!

I just rewired my 203. New ignition switch, new light switch, new fuel gauge, new voltage regulator(all parts from MF). I wired the tractor according to this post http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=mf&th=141417
I am positive I have it wired correctly according to the post from this website. I tried to polarize the generator (bat terminal on volt reg to A terminal on generator) and I get no spark. Nothing. I turn the ignition switch and I get nothing. Battery is brand new and putting out 12.7 volts. I have power going to the starter but that is about where it stops. This fall I pressure washed the tractor before dismantling it. I remember after I did that I could not get the tractor to start unless I beat on the starter with a hammer then it turned over, I only did that once before I dismantled it. Even if the starter is bad shouldn't I get a spark when I try to polarize it? Any suggestions?

I can't help, but I can observe. On my 1997 MF-240-S I could not get a few things to work, tried everything. Finally discovered the wiring diagrams were not right. I had two extra fuses, hidden under the dash, in black screw-together fuse holders. NO mention of them anywhere. Replaced them, everything works.
There's still a few big fuses I cannot find, I doubt I'd discovered everything.

"I have power going to the starter but that is about where it stops"

Power supply is from battery connection on side of start solenoid, to ammeter, other side of ammeter to BAT terminal on regulator, through the regulator and out the L terminal to the ignition/light switch

Sounds like you have an open connection somewhere in that line. Volt meter or test light should lead you to the problem.

If you power washed and then had starter problems I'd start with solenoid connections. Also be sure you have good battery cables with clean and well secured ends. If it has neutral safety start switch that could be a problem.

Yes, the neutral safety switch is a real idea. Had the little clip come off my PTO neutral safety switch, no start until I figured that out. Might make sure the little clips are TIGHTLY clamped to the wire.

It took three sets of eyes but I figured out the wiring problem. The solenoid has the main lug that attaches to the battery and two smaller lugs. The neutral safety switch wire attaches to one of those smaller lugs. There is another wire that attaches to the ammmeter. I had this wire on the same small lug as the neutral safety wire. It needed to be on the large lug along with the battery cable. Not sure how I missed that but I did.
