How to handle wheel weights safely?

I'm restoring a MF 165 and want to remove the wheel weights so I can paint both the weights and the wheels. I have no idea how much these things weigh but they look heavy. Is there a proper way to secure and hoist these things? It looks like you can secure a large bolts in the weight notches. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Remove wheel from tractor, lay on ground then remove weights. Think this would be safe if you do drop it. Use front end loader or rear boom if you have another tractor.

If there are 4 bolts remove two and replace with two longer that have the heads cut off to use as guide studs, remove the other bolts then slide the weight off. The cast wheel center is heavy too, I'd leave it on..

Yesterday I dropped a steel wheel on my toes, and I alwsays try to remind myself to wear those steel-toed boots. I forget many times. If you gottem, maybe wear 'em.

how about this:
you need a lift boom to make it work.
cut a 4x4 or 6x6 to the right length them JAM against the rim and ground then loosen bolts and let the weight slide down the wood and cart off with boom pole or have some one help you carry weight on said wood.

Get the wife to hold the weight while you take the bolts/nuts off with the impact. If the wife isn't around roll one hole to top dead center, take out the bolt replace it with a piece of all thread rod and you can side it off on the all thread once you take the other bolts out.
