Massey 1085 PTO clutch

My massey 1085 diesel pto has seemed to be slippin
when under a load. It seems to get worse as it
gets worked longer. it works good at first and as
it gets used all day mowing/baling it bogs down.
im guessing that the pto clutch is worn b/c my
baler and mower are small enough that this
shouldnt happen and it has run then with no
problem in the past. I was also wondering does
anyone know if it have to split the rear end to
change the pto clutch or an it be replaced from
just removing the pto shaft from the back?
thanks for your help!

If I remember right the lift cover must be off, and a split at the trans-diff joint, so the three point pump can come out before you can get to the clutch pack.

From your description, it sounds more like your aux pump is getting weak. I would first check the pressure of that system, sounds like the pressure is dropping when the oil warms up and the clutch pack can't keep up with the load. You will still have to remove the lift cover and split the tractor aft the transmission. This is assuming that you have IPTO system, meaning that you don't have 'Ground PTO' on the pto lever. Just looked up your system and it looks like the same as my mf 165, if you have multi-power, you could also have some slipping in high, as that uses the same pump and pressure.

If I had your email I could email you the procedure from the Clymers manual.
