Guys, what's the trick to keep the hyd. inspection covers from leaking on my 65?
I replaced both gaskets while i had the oin drained and have snugged the bolts down pretty damn tight. I didn't use a gasket sealer, probably should have. also, it seems like where the bottom bolts in the circle that they couldnt help but leak as they are tapped all the way through to the oil. Thread sealer??
Thanks ahead guys.

Hi David,
The covers are not tapped. If there is an impression of a thread there it is due to the cover being loose and wearing against one or more bolts or perhaps at some time someone has tightened the cover without all of the bolts being in place. Rather than slacken them they may have forced the bolt to start and even cross-threaded it in the casing. Check all threads. The cover may be distorted . Run a fine flat file across the face over the hole. You will soon see if the area around the hole is proud. If the cover is distorted another one might be the best option. Normally the gaskets are very thin. You have the options of using two gaskets, making one yourself out of a thicker material or using a jointing cement.
My choice would be to get the cover as flat as you can and then use a thicket gasket material.

Remove the lower bolts, properly clean and add silicone or other thread sealer to the threads. Use sparingly to keep the goop out of the hydraulic oil.
