Oil Change On John Deere 70 Diesel

I'm going to change oil on the John Deere 70 Diesel. I know where the drain plug and filter plug is located, but there is mention of a third plug. What is this third plug and where is it located? Does it just re-fill with engine oil or is it a separate compartment that needs it's own oil added?

Thanks for any info.

Drain the cranking engine oil into the main engine crankcase.

Drain the diesel engine crankcase.

Drain the main engine timing cover.

Remove and replace the main engine oil filter.

Close the cranking engine crankcase drain and refill the cranking engine crankcase.

Install the 2 main engine drain plugs and refill the main engine crankcase.

I have the manual but I'm not sure of the location of the main engine timing plug. I haven't really looked for it yet because I'm at work, but I plan on changing the oil after work today.

Four places to drain oil.. 1- drain pony oil into diesel crankcase. 2-main diesel engine drain plug.. 3- main diesel engine oil filter... 4- timing gear housing oil drain plug-9/16 wrench- is under the flywheel cover.... Housing will refill with diesel engine oil.. Run diesel engine and recheck its dipstick oil level.. May need to top off with more oil...

(quoted from post at 03:14:44 06/08/23) So did you drain two or three drain plugs?

Three. Main plug, filter plug and the timing housing plug. After I drained the cranking engine oil into the crankcase, of course.
