John W. Hobbs Corp. Hour Meter

Does anyone make a reproduction of the Hobbs hour meter? the part number from my JD 50 parts catalog was AA 5338 R. I have seen a few NOS on the web, but was curious if good new ones were available. Also were they wired from an oil pressure switch or off of the key/light switch?

I doubt any are reproduced but there are many good working ones from old machines. Hobbs hour meters were pretty much all the same. Do a search. I found a used one a while back for a
restoration of an old machine. Some gauge guys can repair a defective unit.

Might check with Evergreen Restoration, he had a few new old stock units. Should be wired through oil pressure switch.

Everyone, thanks for the information. I will see if I can come up with a NOS or good used unit. As was mentioned, it looks like they were used on other brands of tractors and aircraft engines. I have only seen one on a tractor at a show. I thought it was a pretty unique option. The combination tach/hour meter, run off the governor was a much more popular option.
