if you had a choice, which would you chose? both in average condition,
4320. is limited to syncro, and dry clutch, noisey cab,but seems to be in demand? by collecters and farmers?
early 4430 had some rear end trouble?(1973?)but wet clutch and several tran options, and sound gard cab

price seems pretty close,
which would you choose?

thanks

I would take the 4430. Wet clutch and a cab. Plenty of 4320's had rear end problems as well. The problems were mainly on tractors that were turned up and used for heavy tillage. It also seemed that manure tankers would cause a good many failures in both models as the tractor was prone to a good bit of wheel spinning. Tom

It would depend on what I was using it for. the rotary pump on the 4320 seems to have more low end torque and better cold weather starting that the inline on a 4430.

I've got a 4320, my father in law a 4430.

they are both good horses.

Both solid horses as mentioned. Decent 4320's do experience upward price pressure due to collectors. I feel 4430;s price gets a boost from the fact that its bigger brother the 4630 was 1000 pto only, and its little brother the 4230 is just not that highly thought of (dont exactly know why). So unless you simply need a brute for tillage, the 4430 is the preferred choice.

Have a open station 4320 it's still a good horse. I don't think many made for only 2 years? But I'm sure someone else is better with the numbers

Most 4430's by this point in time have the upgraded engine overhaul kit in them for improved cold weather starting. Many have had the upgrades in the rear installed as well. I would take an early 4430 that had those improvements because Quad Range and a SGC are much nicer to have.

Hydro Cushion seat did not come out until 40 series tractors. 30 series was just a glorified mechanical suspension as a 20 series used. Just
different mounting parts. Same suspension spring and shock as 10 and 20 series. DW

The Sound Guard was a big improvement. Not hard to spend $1K+ to get air updated and working.Interior takes about $800+ to make nice. The 4320s that sell over $20K are very nice open stations.I have seen 4430 and 4320 bring somewhere around $12K that were average.I have bought many 4440/50/55 and they are bring more than 5 years ago.I watched a very nice 4455 local 5500 hour tractor bring $50K Saturday and nice all original 71 4020 w/ 148 loader bring $18.Nice lower hour originals are hard to find.

When I was 15 I was thinking about spending all my life on a 20 series second gen and gave work to get some of them. I gad a 4440 but hated the lack of space compared to the 4020.
As I get older, I think the sound guard is nice and quiet. Straight pipes are no more for me too.
