I have a 1952 model A (that I pull with) it has dltx72 carb on it
now how much of a difference will there be if I put a dltx51
“big nut”carb on it ???

Maybe none, may even hurt you. My little G I started out with a big bored out carb. ran so so, went to a smaller one and it worked better. Finally went to a stock size and it runs the best there.

My stock A pulled no better with a bored out 71 or Big Nut carburetor than a stock carburetor. The bigger carburetor along with mild port work made less HP on the dyno. My experience on tractor head porting is...leave the grinder, rotary files, and sanding scrolls in the drawer, without flow bench experience on tractors, followed by dynamometer testing there is a high probability engine performance will suffer.

Porting defiantly will help but leave it to someone that knows what they are doing. Seen a lot of heads with bad port jobs come through the shop.
