4039 and a 4239 engine

Could someone please explain the differences between a 4039 engine and a 4239 engine. And the Horsepower too, (no turbo for me). This is for a repower project on a 2510 diesel with a 202 that is at the end of it's life.

Thanks in advance;
Boowah

They are the almost identical engines, the 4039 is the metric designation. The 4039 is improved with high ring pistons making it a better cold weather starter. Either engine will be a vast improvement over the 202.

Could be ups to 95 net hp @ 2,500 rpm if turbocharged. Less for applications desiring longer life.

With out a turbo, the 2555 (4039,) typically makes about 70HP, my 2750 (4239 turbo) made 80 pto HP from the factory (it will currently run 100Hp+).

Thanks to everyone for the information. I am hoping this 2510 repower project will be a simple upgrade. I understand there are certain parts I will need to keep from the old 202 engine to make this work,such as water pump plate, exhaust manifold, and I'm sure there are more. If anyone has actually done this please give me some pointers and a list of steps.

Thanks in Advance;
Boowah

If any ones needs a Turbo kit, I have one off of a 2555. New muffler and new turbo along with all the parts needed to install the turbo. Al

A turbo 276/4.5L will make 115HP without stain .

I am in process right now installing a 276 T in a 2520. 110 engine HP! No SCV's hanging on firewall like a 2510 to worry about and more room for turbo and pipes. If you have two SCV's on your 2510 you have a clearance problem with a 276 D?? The other thing you will have to do is grind connecting rod bolt clearance in bottom of oil pan to allow rotation of crank / #4 rod, as rod bolt will strike bottom / shallow part of oil pan. I am looking for an oil pan from a piece of construction equipment to add some oil capacity.

I was going to try to find you on here. I remembered you posting about this before. Only 1 scv on this tractor.

Im picking the engine up Sunday. I'll post back here when I get working on it as I'm sure I'll have questions.

I would be interested in what you have, Can you send me photos of manifold, oil lines / tubes, pipes and any other parts you have. Send prices with pictures. Call me for email address at three 1 nine 3 eight 9 six one 3 one. Thanks DW

Thank you, I am looking forward hearing from you. Thanks for posting and letting me know as I will not look elsewhere while waiting for your reply. DW
