Bolaver

I am sharing a jd 14T baler with my neighbor for baling grass hay on small acreage. For several years we have occasionaly encountered a second tie imediately after the first producing what we call a baby bale. Recently this started happening with most ties and at times multiple times. Any help in solving this aggravation would be appreciated.

One of two things, either the "dog clutch" on the knotter shaft is sticking, or has a weak or broken spring and is not latching "out", or the "bale length control" mechanism is not resetting properly.

I'm more of a 24T guy, but do remember that the measuring wheel system was changed over the run if the 24T, I seem to recall some issues with uneven bale length with the first design, but don't remember the details.

But, I would first suspect the dog clutch not "locking out" and repeating the tying cycle.

Carefully walk beside the baler and watch what's going on.

My guess is measuring wheel mechanism isn't contacting linkage on trip dog correctly. Is your balers serial # above or below 58335 as there were different type measuring wheels & linkages on 14T?
