4010 3 point hitch?

A buddy bought a 4010. I only has a pto on rear. Can he buy a 3 point hitch set-up to bolt onto transaxle? If so does anyone have photos of a 3 point hitch set-up removed from a tractor? I told him to sign up here and looks like he hasn't yet.

If 4010 came from factory without a 3 pt hitch then it will be very difficult & time consuming to add a factory type 3 pt hitch with load/depth control. One would need to R&R ring gear/pinion to add the L/D mechanism inside diff housing. I've never seen an add on aftermarket 3 pt for a 4010

There were some add on ones made for tractors without a rockshaft. They use an external hyd. cylinder. Much like the add on kits for Farmall M's. You would need to check salvage yards in the northern wheat belt ND,SD,WY,KS ect where standard tractors were sold. Post some pics of your tractor as it might have the rockshaft and just be missing the bottom arms and lift links. Many years ago Dad put all the factory parts on a 4010 standard. The load control arm in the trans was the worst and we had to drill an oil passage as well. Tom

Noticed a 4320 for sale the other day that has an aftermarket 3 point hitch.

Pretty basic design & the cylinders are only single acting but probably effective enough for certain applications.

Many years ago when I worked at a JD dealer a guy bought a 5020 without 3 point hitch and wanted one added. Our chief JD mechanic went through the books and ordered the parts to do the job. I am sure some additional ones were required and I know we had to return some. It was a major and very expensive project some 40 years ago. I don't think I ever saw an aftermarket 3 pt hitch for new generation tractors but as mentioned below wouldn't be too complicated. I have a couple on IH tractors and they are definitely as good as factory but do allow you to use some 3 pt hitch implements.

I sold my aftermarket 3 point hitch off my 4020 last week. It would fit on the 4010 too and it is going on a 930 Case. Faul mfg out of
Harvey N.D. made them. There were lots of them back when people started raising sunflowers in N.D. and needed a three point to
cultivate them.

I can?t see single acting cylinders causing a problem
becuse the 3 point on a new gen doesn?t have down
pressure anyway

(reply to post at 18:21:58 10/19/18)[/ appa quote] app 30 years ago when I got out of high school I bought a 4010 lp with out 3 point. I went to abliene machaine and boutht a 3 point off a salvaged tractor and put it in mine. it was not all that bad. I did not have to pull the ring gear. still have the tractor today.

I have seen few 4010 and drove a 4020 with aftermarket three points that bolts down on the rear axle housings. It had much more lifting force than a 4020 factory three point hitch.
