401 industrial hydraulic problem again

About a month ago I had a problem with my JD 401 industrial. The mower stayed in the raised position. I removed the trans top, didn't see anything out of place. I reinstalled the top, and it worked fine up and down. Now today the same thing again it stayes in the up position. What am I missing? Doubt this has anything to do with the problem, but it started to happen the first time after I changed the oil. The oil is ok to use on JD tractors.I used napa brand oil. I have been using it in the past also. Stan

There is an adjustment procedure on those where you go in through the back with a socket welded or taped to an extension so as not to loose it. Pretty sure the small tractors are this way too. I'd start there. Even an I & T manual should explain how to do it.

Have you tried turning rate of drop screw under seat CCW 1/2 to full turn? Have you changed position of L/D lever under seat?
