Fanshaft removal

I can't speak specifically for your "A", but on my 50, I found that I can take the two radiator bolts out at the bottom of the radiator, then slide the radiator forward and twist it clockwise, looking down on it. With the fan shroud bolts removed and the shroud laying loose on the fan shaft, the fan shaft will barely clear and allow removal, front end first. It's a tight fit. It will not come out if you don't twist the radiator. Patience!! Again - this is on a 50.

I failed to mention that I first removed the radiator shutters. Every fraction of an inch is needed to get it out. That radiator is heavy, and I'm a one man band.

Well an unstyled would have a good chance you could. And if you can't not much extra stuff to remove to gain full access. Why does it need removed ? If it needs bearings or service I always also remove the governor assembly too. This way you can stand it up in a vise like the B service manual shows and gain good access to properly adjust the bevel gears.

Just remove the radiator and pull the fanshaft. A lot more room than trying to slide the radiator ahead and damaging the core.

I pretty much if I need to remove an old rotted manifold I just remove the cyl, head. I also do a valve job on the head since it is off. Can't say I ever had one off that could not benefit from a valve job.
