Does anybody have a wiring diagram they could share? I've got ignition and charging problems and the previous owner has hay baled the wiring.

Thanks.

Take a look at the [b:654c4848f0]Lamps and Wiring[/b:654c4848f0] diagram below.

The diagram below is for both a 50 and a 520/ From the factory, the 50 had a true 12 volt coil without a resistor. The 520 had a 6 volt coil with a resistor.

That diagram is close but a little different. I have two leads coming back from the voltage regulator. One is the battery feed back to the ammeter, the other goes to the light/ignition switch. I found, through googling, a diagram of the back side of the instrument panel and it shows the two leads just like mine is wired. It doesn't daisy chain from the ammeter to the ignition switch like your diagram shows which is what I would have expected. Maybe a revision happened over the years of production. The tractors been re-painted and all of the wiring is green now so I have to trace by voltage or ohm the lead to run it down. Somebody had put a resistor to the coil but it must have gone open as they then just used one side of the resistor as a junction block and tied both leads to the one side and tie wrapped the whole mess to the throttle linkage above the distributor. I've got some cleaning up to do!

James,

I just figured out from other sites your diagram is for a 3 terminal regulator, Armature, Field, and Battery. My tractor has a 4 terminal regulator. Armature, Field, Battery and Load. The lights and ignition are meant to wire to the Load terminal instead of daisy chaining off of the ammeter. It's all starting to make sense now......

Take a look at the 4 terminal voltage regulator below.
