John Deere 2510 dirt in fuel tank

I have a John Deere 2510. The bottom of the fuel tank is covered with a lot of particulate matter (it looks like dirt). I can't find a fuel tank drain plug. Will I have to remove the fuel tank or is there an easier way to clean the dirt out?

Ditto what Chuck stated BUT to remove much dirt in tank I think one might have to remove tank to clean as drain opening is small(0.250 IN)

I have removed the fuel sender and went in through that opening with a wash cloth size cloth and a stiff wire to swab out the tank, hang a small light in the fill hole to illuminate the tank.. the tank comes off easy,,a bit nasty to get back on in place..

Here is the jist of my post directly to you on the 21st. You must be busy planting.

"I have pressure washed the inside of the fuel tank with it both removed and still installed on the tractor. Of course in all cases cap, fuel sender, and bottom valve are all removed or open. I then dry it out by running (sucking) a shop vacuum through it for several hours to dry it out.
Mine were never in bad shape, just needed a cleaning. Seems I have seen processes for restoring tanks that are rusty on the inside but I forget what that would be."

Mr. Leon had also commented on the 21st.

If you choose to remove the tank it is really quite simple (that's what I love about JD). Take a black fine point marker and mark where all the key strap interface points are, and mark reference points tank-to-frame. It makes it easy to re-install and get everything lined up. Oh, soak the bolts on the straps for awhile, I have twisted those off and had to weld them.

It pays to clean those tanks out. One 3020 I did, the bottom liquid was like cow gutter pee and it smelled like it, if you know what I mean.

Thank you. Sorry I didn't see your previous comments. I am going to remove the tank as suggested when I get time and clean it completely.
