JD H Disc plow

Brought home this H2 disc plow this weekend. Mounted it and played with it in the garden today. I must say, front weights are a requirement. As soon as I dropped this thing the front made a hard right turn! :)

Question for anyone familiar with these. The parts book shows another disc in front of the right tire as another depth wheel. Was this sold as one unit (both discs) or could it have come with just the one? I obviously only have the rear disc. Honestly, I am not sure how the H could have pulled both discs, I had trouble pulling just the one.

Is the second disk, front one, a coulter used to stabilize things? The coulter would take little power to pull but take care of a lot of the side load.

The second one (front) is the same as the back. A disc and guide/depth wheel. The post above shows it really well in the parts book. I imagine having the front one would help keep things straight, however I am not sure a little H could pull both discs.

Years ago a neighbor used an H to pull a 7ft. #5 mower, in heavy cutting it would pull the front end hard to the right,, they are a bit light..

The front wheel is a guide running in your last furrow so the front disc makes a furrow for the tractor tire. It does seem to be a lot for an H to pull. Maybe only intended for light soils? Never saw on of those for an H.

I have a original h2 parts manual. By the looks of it the front and rear disk are needed to plow right. The front would have a guide wheel and depth adjustment lever which you don't have. More pictures would help in seeing what you are missing.

Pretty much what you see is what I have. The front I have the bracket coming down from the frame that holds the beam. There are holes in the beam but no disc, no wheel, and not adjustment levers. What you see on the rear is all that is here.
