carb cleaning

Have a two barrel marvel schebler carb from a 630. What is easiest way to remove the steel balls which are inserted into the drilled passages in the carb body? I need to remove them for cleaning. Thanks

I have a tin cup on my workbench with a lot of those SS balls I've removed
over the years, and I don't screw up the casting trying to use a welder on them.
The balls are harder than the cast iron, so drilling doesn't work either.
There are actually six SS balls that need to be removed to properly clean the
passages, and six .043 orifices that must be cleaned also.
I replace 4 of the balls with a brass 10-32 screw in plug. 2 can go back in.

Per the other post the restorer has a secret process...I've never tried to remove them but use bread ties, peel the layer off and this has worked well in getting around the passages. Takes a little patience but it works....fine wire was also used....

As I have posted before here, buy yourself .125 carbide mills with 60 degree tips and you can remove the stainless balls. I tap the 4 ports and use allen socket set screws so they can be removed and ports cleaned if needed in the future. A vertical mill works best to remove the balls from the 4 ports. Take it easy carbide is very brittle and they will break with to much pressure.
