1020 split for PTO shift repair what am I missing

So I have this 1020 in the shop that has a broken rear PTO shift collar. I have the 3 bolts on the left side out and the 4 bolts on the right side out and the 2 under it out and there are no bolts in under the shiftier plate so so what am I missing?? I does not want to split like it should. I can tell it has been done before because of the silicone gasket stuff there. I have the hyd line disconnected and ya I still need to do the brake lines but it should at least open up a little bit even with those lines still on.
I have the front on one chain hoist and the back on another one and both are on trolleys so it should at least start to come apart.
Thanks,
By the way yes I did look in the I-T manual to see if there was something I was missing

I've never split a 1020, but a 2010 has a hidden internal steel hydraulic line and if not disconnected from the 3-point unit bad thing happen when you try to pull it apart.

Better make sure you aren't dealing with something like that.

Have you looked at the parts breakdown at www.jdparts.com?

Most any of those site I cannot go to due to being on dial up and taking a very long time to load. I have looked in the I-T manual and read all that it says on doing what I am trying to do. There is an external hyd line that I have disconnected.
As for the 1010 and 2010 I have messed with them before and even have a 1010 parts tractor.
But thanks any way. I am thinking it maybe as simple as silicone of one of the pilot pin holes hold it

There should be two bolts under the shift cover to remove. Could be just the gasket stuck good if all bolts are out. I have had to put a jack under the split and jack them up to get them to break loose before. Will split the gasket in half.

I counted 11 capscrews holding clutch housing & trans housing together. Did you overlook capscrew(key 8)?

Jim: Do those 1020 need split at the engine first and then the back section ? IIRC a 2840 had to be done that way but these are all a little different made.

3 on the left side on the outside. 4 on the right outside and 2 under the bottom then yes there should have been 2 in and under the shiftier plate but those 2 seem to be missing unless there an Allen head or some such thing which would be bolts 7 and 8 in your picture. I have looked and then looked agian and I can even stick my finger into the holes where the 2 bolts 7,8 should be but not there. Just wonder it that silicone is why it does not split I know it can really stick things tight some times. So I have 9 bolts out but the last 2 which are 7 and 8 seem to not even be there but I will double check just in case some one put in something odd. Due the th silicone I know some one has had it apart at one time

Well right now I have 8 bolts out and the 2 bolts that should be under the shiftier plate seem to be gone since I can stick my finger on both holes and there does not appear to be any thing in them. That silicone may well be why it is not pulling apart I know at times it sure can glue things tight

No split needed between engine & clutch housing that I remember but it's been a long time since I was employed at JD dealer.
