pto air pump

how fast does one run a john deere pto air pump? and does it hang from the pto or how should it be set up? can't find a book or anything on it. ran mine to air up a front tire and ran maybe 10 minutes at 1000 eng. rpm. dang thing got pretty hot. had to hold it on with my foot as the chain is broke. did deere every have a owners manual for these?

There was a manual for them. I think I got a reprint from Deere ? I'm not sure how fast to run them. I filled up a 15.5-38 on the back of my 720 diesel once and it took a long time but that was low pressure too. I don't think I ran it too fast. Sort of glad I had that pump as I was far from the shop when my valve stem ripped out of my rear tire and I had to get a new tube.

I think I saw one in the parts book with a 1,000 rpm hub in it,, if that was so,, wow would that warm up fast,, I remember running them airing up wagon tires back in the 60's and used a burlap bag to hold them...

I have an operator's manual for the pump. It says to operate at idle speed.

Drop me an e-mail and I can e-mail a scan back to you. It's 8 or so pages.

The brochure displays the tire pump hanging by the chain from the pan seat.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I like the brochure pic of the gal with the fancy shoes on airing up the tire.

Have a pto pump but missing the original valve and gauge connector. What's the prospects of finding one either original or reproduction
