Hi just wondering what make of engine kit does a and i provide for a jd 219 ci engine.
has anyone used an a and i engine kit and is the quality there as well does it have the hi-ring pistons. I am rebuilding a motor for a friend and its going into a machine that will not be used more than 50 hrs a year. he wants it rebuilt right but not with the JD parts price tag. thanks any help would be appreciated.

Don't know about a 219 but overhauled a JD 4455 about 14or 15 years ago and have put almost 5,000 hours on it with A&I overhaul kit. I'd say it's good stuff! Can't say the same for the guys that redone the injection pump, took them three try's to get it right. I have there phone number at the shop and they are very good at answering your questions.

We have one in our 2520 and 2510 diesels. Many shops like the A&I Maxiforce kits in the utility tractors and prefer the Reliance kits for the larger tractors. The most important part of any overhaul is not the engine kit but who does the head. On a Deere the valves must be done right for it to start correctly. We have a 3020 that was overhauled 15 years ago and feeds cows ever day and will start below zero without either or plugging it in. We do plug it in but once and a while it needs to be cold started for one reason or another. Tom

Another option if you're shopping. The last time I bought engine parts I got them from Syracuse Crank. They were selling under the name "AgKits". I assume they still are.

Make sure you pay attention to your block number. The earlier engines had O-rings on the cylinder rather than in the block, and there is a split in the wrist pin size also. The JD rebuild kits are for the later two versions- you have to go to individual parts for the earlier version.
