70 Gas Flywheel

I purchased a flywheel for a 70 gas and have noticed it is somewhat different than others I've seen. I've attached a couple of pictures showing the differences.

The first photo shows a flywheel with what appears to be strengthening ribs extending radially from the hub to the outside. It also has radii around the relief holes. The second photo is the flywheel I purchased and it does not have these ribs, nor the radii around the relief holes.

Does anyone have any information on why these might be different? Thanks!

i would check the part numbers on them and then look at your parts manual and see if you have one for a diesel or one for the others. My guess is picture one is the diesel, but i could be wrong...part numbers will tell truth...

Here's where it gets interesting. For the same part number (F1226R), there appears to be two different versions. There is the one I have, and one that looks very similar to the diesel flywheel. There's one of the latter currently listed on Ebay and the casting F1226R can be seen in one of the photos.

I just remember that when we needed a new one for our 70 gas that JD said only one would work(no lp or diesel) and the new one was yellow not green.
