OT: Father Passed Away Thursday

Good afternoon everyone,

I know I don't have much to contribute to the forums lately (with a busy life in school, working full time, & planning a wedding), I muster enough energy to read occasionally but have very little tractor activity to speak of - The '41 Case SC and the '41 Unstyled A are sitting in the garage waiting for spring or spare time, but I have to go a different direction in my talks today...

I am sorry to inform everyone (even though nobody on the forum knew my father), but he passed away suddenly on Thursday from a massive heart attack at the age of 55. His health has seen some sticky spots the last few years, but I believe now he is at peace. I wanted to post on here, simply because he supported my passion for tractors, and I know all of you would share a little bit of grief to have lost a fellow enthusiast. The photo included is of my dad, and my grandfather (deceased in 1993) working on grandpa's 1940 IH M in the summer of 1988. I appreciate everyone's condolences, and am thinking that the '41 Unstyled A JD will be finished up in his memory - he never did get to see the tractor before he passed.

That is tough. I am in my mid 40s now. 55 is too young, was he a smoker? Lost my FIL at the age of 59 due to smoking related cancer.

WOW sorry to hear this Ken, I too lost my dad at an early age, now I'm 55, kinda hits home. Prayers for you and your family in the coming times from here in Georgia, you will meet again!

Joe

He was a smoker, and a heavy drinker. He struggled with a couple things, but prospered in many other areas. Thank you everyone for your condolences.

Sorry for you loss My Father died 45 years ago when I was 18. I have his 1945 model B with the bill of sale, He bought it new in San Antonio.

Thank you everyone for you thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and that you find your family in good health as well. Who'da thunk that such a great network of support would come from a group of guys and gals who just like old tractors? :) Have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Sorry for your loss Ken. 55 is way to young. I lost my father in 2000 from metastatic prostate cancer. I have so many fond memories working on the farm while growing up and I think about him everyday. prayers sent. Richard

18 years ago around Christmas my Dad at 76 years old died in a farm accident and my wifes Dad died at 47 in a pickup accident.Their loss still hurts but seeing them die in a nursing home would hurt a lot worse. My condolenses.I hope I am wearing my boots when my time comes.A friend of mines Dad was sitting beside his stopped combine with his dog..Thats why you don't always say what you think as you might not have a chance to take it back.
