Which way

Can someone pleas tell me which way I turn this cap to get to the end of the keeper? Clockwise or counter clockwise? Does the rise on the keeper turn into the body? Thank you for the help.

No guarantee, but, likely counter clockwise. Like a 'normal' thread. HTH

Either way, until you get to the end of the "key" that's loose.

Looks like you've been a little rough on it already, and broke off the raised tang portion?

You should have turned it in the direction that exposes the ring next to the tang, while grabbing the tang and elevating it out of the groove.

Yeah Bob I made the mistake of going to you tube and watching a guy take it out. Apparently it was a spoof on how NOT to take it out. He used hammers and punches and screwdrivers to try to pry it out and he never did get it out. I hope I haven't screwed it up.

Clockwise until you see the end of the key, lift it up and then go counter clockwise to push the end out of the slot. If you push it now, it might fight you, better to pull it on around instead. Might need a dremel tool to knock down that bump on the key if it actually is there as bad as it looks in the photo.

Search for CSI Yard Man and watch a guy do it right on Youtube. His was clockwise too, but he did it backwards anyway since he didn't know until afterwards which is the right way.
