JD 1830 hydrolic running hot

I bought a JD 1830 and the guy before me had a supply line from the pump runing a log loader on a power trailer and the return line is going back to the filter. When the log loader is not used the two quick connect line are left disconected. Now i started to use these line to run two hydrolic motor on a feed table to supply my firewood processor(run by the PTO on the tractor)whit a open center 4way joystick. i couldn't even touch the hydrolic line or fitting they were that hot. the transmission temperature was 210 degree celcius (i check with a laser termomiter). Since i have change the control valve to a close center but i am starting to second guess myself and im worry that it will damage the pump on the tractor. let me know what you think. Thanks

Chris

What's your ambient temp where you line? 100 degrees plus ambient temp is close to normal for operating hyd oil. Orbit motors tend to heat hyd oil. Is the hyd oil cooler very clean? You might install an adjustable type flow control valve to limit flow to help heating problem.

The open Center valve will cause the pump to operate at max capacity 100% of the time.
The tractor's oil cooler is probably plugged with 39+ years of oil, dirt and sawdust. Impossible to totally clean unless the front end sheet metal is removed.
Going closed Center and cleaning the oil cooler should be enough. Don't bend the fins over with a high pressure water jet.
