What color were the fuel tanks from the factory? Also was the "John Deere" cast into the rear axles painted yellow originally? Thanks in advance!

The tanks were nver painted that' s why the tops rusted out. Those without h3at shields just got coated with what ever over spray they could get on them when assembled.

I do paint my tanks completly before assembly.
I also paint the top faces of those letters yellow as did the factory.

You might consider painting the fuel tank green.

Use yellow paint for the raised letters on the axles.

What about the fuel cap? I have seen some painted red. Was this correct? Thanks for the tips. Pictures look nice.

Checked the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/John-Deere-Tractor-Data-Book/dp/0760302286">John Deere Tractor Data Book</a> in Appendix 1 on page 187.

For the 1940-1946 Styled B:

9. Cap on axillary fuel tank painted red.

Painted the other one red for a little more color.

Hope this helps.

What brand of tires is on the tractor in the picture? I have one good tire identical to yours but it has no brand on it anywhere. Am looking for one like it.
Thanks,
Bob
