Awhile back I asked about swapping a gas motor into a diesel 4400 that I have that burned in a fire.
Heres where I'm at. I picked up the gas motor today, and it didn't come with a flywheel.... I was warned before that the gas and diesel use a different ring gear, but I'm not sure if they use a different starter? The motor DID come with a good starter, but it isn't from that motor, and they didn't know if it came from gas or diesel. But I suspect that if they are different, the starters themselves are the same but the bendix and gear is the difference? So if I should be able to swap parts and make it work?
I have a 4400 Ford industrial, 3cyl diesel, SOS Transmission. I was told to use my current flywheel, but swap to a gas ring gear and install it on the new gas motor, because I am assuming the SOS uses a different flywheel set up?
Either way, can I run a diesel flywheel, and a diesel starter on a gas motor? What do I have for options? As always, thanks guys, Bryce
