800-801 gas tank?

Gosh, I think they were the same. I know the replacement tanks nowdays hold less gas, probably so they can also be used in the 600 and 601 tractors also.

I think, but don't know for certain, that all the X01 gas tanks will have a fuel gauge. The 01 tanks are longer and hold more fuel which necessitated a repositioning of the hood hinge. If it weren't such a miserable day, I'd hike up to the shed and take some pictures and measure for you -

Likely a real expert will chime in shortly -

Yes.

The 801 series fuel tank is considerably longer, reaching nearer to both radiator and dash.

As mentioned the 801 gas tanks had a hole for the gas gauge sender. Below is from the parts book. 55/57 is 800 and 58/ is 801.

I sure don't want to steel this post but, I have a question on the "Picture Page". My book shows the same picture. I have an 860 (1955). The book shows a spring on top of the mounting flange of the gas tank. I think this is wrong for a 1955 860. On mine I think the spring needs to be on the bottom. This isn't the first time my book has been wrong.
Any one know for sure before I mount it wrong and have to change it.
