Ford 800 radiator recommendations

So I finally got my act together and pulled my long suffering 860 out from a friends pole barn and hauled it home. It is needy but more in terms of routine maintenance than anything else. So years ago I pulled off the original radiator because it was leaking and had mineral buildup. I took it to a shop and they said it wasn't worth fixing and wanted to sell me a replacement for $350. Being younger and dumber at that time I didn't keep the old radiator as in hind site they didn't want to mess with it, just sell me a new one. So I have no core to rebuild. Looking around there are some different choices. Prices are all over then map between $150-$350.

So this isn't going to be a field work machine or something that needs to be restoration quality. I'd just like something that will hold coolant and not spring a leak in 2 years. I'd be open to original but I'm Leary of anything that I can't look into before I hand over money. So let me have it. The good, the bad, and the ugly of whats out there.

Also I'm in the Grand Rapids, MI area so if theres a good salvage yard around I could maybe check that out.

I have never dealt with this guy, don't know him at all, but he isn't that far from you and runs adds on craigslist.

As it sounds that you already know, the OEM radiators are the best, repaired, recored, or otherwise.

If you must buy a new one, I would recommend a "restoration quality" radiator from DC or a Clancy.

Whatever you buy, be CERTAIN that it has a flat-finned industrial type core rather than an automotive type core.

Has anyone used one from American cooling solutions out of South Dakota? They Have a brass 4 core that's $170 before shipping and supposedly is a direct bolt in that fits the original shroud. It's got a 1yr warranty so I think I might roll the dice on it.

Back to originals I'm just leary because everything is getting to be 70yrs old so its all subject to metal fatigue, corrosion, etc...

We have had very good luck w/one from All States Ag Parts on a 3500 industrial. Price was just over $200 as I remember.

If you're interested in an original, the ad that psimmer linked
is the the Hall kid up in Stanton. I say kid, I would guess he's
in his late 30's. Nice guy. Fair to deal with.

You might also try Tom Kurkiewicz on 7 mile there in G.R.
He's a mile or so east of Fruit Ridge Ave.
I could email you his phone number.

I've bought a couple new from YT as well. The cheaper ones.
They fit and worked fine for me, but they feel like they are lighter
duty than the originals. The first one is about 8 years old now.
