12v conversion

I just ordered a new 1 wire alternator kit for my naa from Steiner tractor. Just curious if the regulator needs to be replaced as well? Any other upgrades I need to make that I?m not thinking of ?

Also any suggestions on which battery to run with it?

Thanks

Some suggestions:
Alternator has a built in regulator, discard your external regulator. Your will need to change the pulley on the alternator to match your old, wide fan belt. Use the original voltage resister that came with the 6v setup. Use a 12v battery that best fits your battery box. Use a 12v coil without a built in resister. Be aware, that the single wire alternator will need some additional rpm's to get it charging, but after that, it will charge at any speed. 6v starter is OK. That is what I did for my 2N about 6 years ago, and she is still running. Others can chime in if I missed something.

I noticed lots of wires running into and out of the external resistor. When I eliminate it do I just rerun these wires to exclude going through the old resistor ?

I just did my NAA last week. I don't know what comes in the kit from Steiner, but the kit I got from Just 8N's came with the correct pulley, a 12 volt coil, wire and instructions in the form of a drawing. You will need to reverse the wires on you ammeter to compensate the the polarity change. Do that while the battery is out and pull the ammeter up out of the housing after removing the clamp. Also it's a bit easier if you remove the air cleaner too. Good luck.
