Hello, having some difficulty posting. New to forum but look forward to getting to know everybody.

New to me tractor. 1969
Transmission fluid was milky white. Changed fluid with UTF and bought shifter boot.

Going to change hydro filter.

Cannot hold tractor back with brakes when shuttle is shifted into forward or reverse. Even at idle.

Could there be a stuck bypass valve somewhere?

Have operators manual but not service manual.
Thanks in advance for any info anybody could provide.

This site sells a reprint of the industrial tractor manual, the I&T and reprint AG tractor manuals do not cover the torque convertor/reversing transmissions. If there was that much water in your old fluid there may be corrosion problems in your torque converter. The torque convertoer on them doesn't have a drain plug so there was probably still a gallon or so of milky-nasty fluid in there after your change. I hope you didn't buy the Cheap Charlie hydraulic transmission fluid. We had several customers who tried to save money buy buying cheapie fluid and it delaminated (unglued) the friction material in the clutch packs and the forward and reverse were effectively engaged at the same time. Had to replace torque converter, tear completely apart & flush, and replace clutch pack materials. Their saving $10-20 bucks on a pail of oil ended up costing them a couple thousand.

The ones I sent to Joseph Industries in Cleveland for R&R didn't, but who knows. We got lots of surprises. We got in a new 3010S made in Meh-he-co. Boss told tech to go ahead and dealer prep it even though it wasn't sold, good thing as it had plain water in it and it was about this time of year. Had another XX10S that needed power steering lines, ordered them 3 times, got wrong ones 3 times, yet were correct for serial number. Finally got on the phone with then and asked if they had a piece of XX10S literature, they said yes. I told them look at the picture on the cover, THOSE are the lines I need! Come to find out that tractor was a pilot machine, and had been assembled in Mexico, but with parts from the Turkey plant. Or as I told them "a turkey taco with spaghetti sauce on it".

Used ?premium? UTF at tractor supply.
Thought I saw a thread about similiar problem and it ended up being two corroded spring loaded pins accessible from under the steering
column. Just can?t find that thread. Will buy service manual after recovering from too much spent $$
