Help locating Fuel Shutoff Valve Ford 4000 diesel

Ok,
So I feel like this is a stupid question but I am at a dead end.
I need to change the fuel filter in my tractor and cannot find the fuel shutoff! I have traced the line from the tank to the filters and there is nothing.
Is this possible? And if so how do I change the filter without it?
Any help much appreciated

It's very possible. Remember these tractors has had many people over 50 years working on and changing things on them. My self I'd pull the line and drain the tank. Reason is there is a filter inside the tank on the part that screws out. That is unless that has been modified also.

It would help to know which 4000 you have
63-64 four cylinder model
65-75 three cylinder model

The shut off is on the bottom of the tank where the line attaches on ether model
.
On 4 cylinder models theres a slot for a flat screw driver, turn it clockwise to shut the fuel off

On 3 cylinder models there should be a wing nut looking knob sticking out of the side of the valve, turning it clockwise will shut off the fuel.
Many of these are plastic and I'd seen a few that had the wing nut knob broke off.

If that's the case I recommend you drain the tank and replace the valve.

Destroked 450,
My 64 4000 has the newer lever type shut off. You flip it to turn it off. Maybe have to give it a tap to stop all flow.

I went from a 801 to the 3 cylinder models, skipped the early -000 series.

Since you say "filters" I assume that it is a later 3 cylinder 4000, as I've never seen an earlier 4 cylinder 4000 with dual filters.

As Danny said, it is possible that a prior owner got rid of the shutoff valve for some reason. Also, as Destroked said, the original shutoff valve should be right were the fuel line connects to the tank, whether it is the earlier 4 cylinder 4000 or the later 3 cylinder 4000.

If there truly is no shutoff valve then you will need a big enough bucket to drain the fuel into and then you should install a shutoff valve while you have it drained and are changing the filter.
