Lucas starter on my 1948 TE 20 Ferguson. Contacted a staff member who is working on my starter. Told him I wanted to pick up my starter. He told me he had located parts to repair my starter. Asked Him to proceed to repair my starter.

Hi Scott,

My Wife and I have been collecting older farm tractors for 45 years. We have limited our collecting to tractors with 3 points on them. Our collection of older farm tractors is small. 6 tractors left now and one 1948 International TD 6. Would have been impossible to repair these tractors without help from people such as You.
Thanks again,
Chris

I always wanted a td6 or it's bigger sibling a td9 but I just haven't had the time the last couple of years. With the wifes health problems and still farming.Heck I have not had my 450 diesel out of the shed the last 2 years.I keep turning it over every once in awhile.I am glad to be among the guests on here.Scott

Interested that You liked the TD 6 and TD9 crawlers. We were in the construction business during 1950 -1955. We bought a new TD 9 in 1954 from Howard Cooper.Allis Chalmers, at the time, had a crawler with a two cylinder GMC diesel. Our choice was the TD 9.It was an excellent machine.
I had a collection of TD 6 crawlers. 3 to be exact. Sold two of them and still have a TD6.It is an antique but a very fine little dozer. The crawlers had been abandoned by their owners so I paid very little for them. Traded a Super C for one , person gave me one to get it off his place, and over a period of 5 years totally rebuilt one which we paid $500 50 years ago. Your 450 is a fine machine.

Hi Ejensen that is one pretty crawler I have had my 450 diesel since 1993.It was one ugly machine when I got I went through the clutch,ta;brakes, injection pump, injectors.Rims and tires were shot, after many years of hard use I have to go through ta again.I have never had the engine apart as long as cooling systems are kept up and cooled off running on diesel and proper warm up on gas cycle those old girls go and go.I need to put the distributor back in and time it after replacing bushing in it this spring, maybe after corn harvest.Scott

Hi Scott,
You have done a lot of work on your 450. I used to run the TD6 in the picture when I Was 15 years old. It was in the silage pit and my job was to push out the loads of dumped chopped grass and walk over them with the crawler. We sprayed molasses on the silage we were making. I used to think, " I wish I could have a dozer like this someday." I am 75 years old now. Another person had the TD6 hauled to his place and pulled it around with a large backhoe to break the engine loose. Years of rain water had gone into the engine through the stack. He got it loose and we got it running. I had a Super C that I had totally restored which he wanted. We traded. I proceeded to pull the engine apart. Sleeves in these old TD6 were interference fit. Used a OTC sleeve puller to remove the sleeves. IHC changed to a loose fit sleeve which the head gasket holds in place. Sleeves are the dry type. Two engines in one. Gas engine on one side to get the engine running and warm it up then switch to diesel.
My first tractor was a used steel wheel 1918 fordson. Tractors we have now are antiques but much better tractors than my first tractor.
Best to you and your family. A pleasure sharing information with you n Chris

Good morning Chris thanks for sharing that little tidbit. That crawler would have been the ticket for packing silage. These old machines keep our minds going otherwise we would turn to jelly.Wishing the best for you and your family.Have to go back out and finish feeding cattle.Scott
