I wonder if this has happened to anyone else. I had two ads for farmall tractors and I have had 4 responses from scammers. They
want to send me a certified check and won't pick up tractor until it cleared. I have been told they will send more than agreed up
on then want you to send check back returning the overpayment. They hope you do this before the certified check clears.

Yes I experienced the same thing selling a classic car. He didnt ask a single question about the car. Dead giveaway was his use of english, I could tell he was a foreigner. This was all by email and when I said I wanted to talk to him on the phone he gave me a number that nobody ever answered. Such as a phone booth! They will try anything.

It's part of the price of admission with doing online business. You just have to be wise enough to recognize it, and not fall for it.

The signs are ALWAYS there. It's just greed overpowering what your "Spidey-sense" is telling you, which causes you get taken.

I'd just ignore all offers unless they are cash payment upon pick-up offers. And would not entertain anything else.

Never hurts to be on the safe side. Even if it's somebody that you know that answers the ad. The only one that is going to look out for yourself, is YOU!!

Ive decided to ignore texts from 2500 miles away. Im sure its possible that their phone could be still registered at their previous address, but no further contact was attempted. If the interested party had left a voicemail, I might have considered returning the call.

Gary just send me $10.00 and ignore the scammer. I am cheaper and I keep the money in the USA! :)

That's my policy in general. They can spoof any number they want and a common trick is to have the call come from the same area code and "exchange" as the phone they are calling.

With cell phones, though, "exchanges" really don't mean much, and I don't know anyone on the same "exchange" as my cell phone, so I definitely don't answer any of those.

If it's important, they will leave a voicemail.
