Rear hydraulic help on our Farmall 560

I'm back with more hydraulic questions for my son's 560. And forgive what may seem like novice questions but we're brand new to tractors!

The rear hydraulic ports are giving us issues. He had his haybine connected and was able to cut and raise and lower it for a little while and then he lost the ability to raise it. It has a dual action cylinder.

With the hoses connected it seems as though we're able to only get it to go up or down if we switch the hoses around which to me means we're only getting hydraulic pressure on one of the ports. With that point back to the control valve for those ports? Is there some kind of cleaning, fine-tuning, etc? I do have it set to dual action.

The bottom port has the ball fitting in it which I'm more familiar with but the top Port has more of a nipple. That top Port seems to be functioning better and I think the ball in the bottom port May be malfunctioning as we're getting a fair amount of hydraulic fluid drip from it.

Is the right sequence of attacks to first try it without the filter in place to see if that's the culprit? Also then to put a hydraulic gauge on both of those back ports?

Few things. Starting at the panel between your feet. There is stubs sticking out with flat sides usually two, one for each valve if there are two. They should be set to D for double
acting. Next at the back is there a second block mounted to the block that the steel lines comes to from the front. Are your hoses are connected to it. If so that is a check valve that
needs double acting pressure to release. Using the ports on the block of the steel line bypasses that. More than likely there is a incompatible connector which is a next thing to look at.

Did you check the one way-dual action.. selectors
that gave you the trouble in the first place? See linked
post. I am not real familiar with the x60 series. I believe
the hydraulic remote valves were a lot like those on the
x00 and x50 series. Wonder if there was a reason it
had a makeshift retainer on the selectors I mentioned
in the first sentence? Do yourself a favor and do not
run it without the filter. Here is a link to the one YT
offers. You can probably get one through a local auto
parts store. If they cannot look it up by application
have them cross the IH 388084R91 number.

All three of the valves between my feet are in dual action.

I actually wasn't aware there was another block in the back under the seat. The lines from the front connect to the block on it's left side when facing the ports. The output couplers are on the right side of the block. On the back side of that block where the quick couplers come out there are two big hex plugs kind of straight in line with where the hard lines from the front would come through.

The top output connector is a pioneer 9250 with a shut-off valve on it. The bottom connector is a pioneer 4050 if any of that matters.

Side note with nothing connected to those back ports and operating the corresponding remote it makes it terribly loud noise coming from what sounds like under the seat

Yes we got everything up front working after that first post making sure those valves were in dual action and lined up correctly.

You are plugged into the check valve. Move both one plug to the left and it will work better. Just replace the plugs in the right hand block.

I know there are all kinds of suggestions for your problem. All have been good and not going to say other wise. I would dump the coupler with the Shutoff lever for now and see what happened. I don't believe the ball versus tip matters much. I have had the tip and ball slip off sideways and lose the flow. But that was a long time ago and only the one time. I run mixed couplers all the time with no problems with them the pioneer balls,IH tips, and the ISO coupler with the different tip on them. I have run into problems with those shut off couplers of that type causing problems with flow for not sure why. We have a coupler right now on one tractor looks just like that and having trouble with it and will be gone by next spring.

Well moving the ports to the other side of the rear block seems to have done it! Thank you again everyone! I'm certain this won't be my last post with questions
