3 pt or fast hitch for SMTA

Just bought a NH 254 tedder. Would like to use the SMTA for pulling it but the unit is pulled by the lower lift arms on a cat I or cat II 3 pt. Probably could adapt a fast hitch to the job also but the 3 pt would be more versatile. Should have bought a Saginaw unit while they still made them. Any good options out there these days? I have poked around some but options seem pretty limited.

Personally I would go for the fast hitch. I have both and it seems the fast hitch just works better. The fast hitch is what was originally made for that style tractor. The 3 point is just an add on.

I have an SMTA with Worksaver hitch also. It seems to be quite similar to Saginaw, you can put down pressure on it by changing some pins. I think the 3 point is more versitle than fast hitch overall. I have seen adds for aftermarket 3 pts, maybe even on this site. Otherwise they do sometimes come up on classifieds here. I have a Corn Husker 3 pt on 560 and I don't like it as well

Google Tony's Tractors. I'm not sure if they still make the hitches but the website was still up last I checked.

I don't think Worksaver makes hitches anymore.

If you do decide to go the fast hitch route look for a mechanical draft control style one off a 450 or 560. The Super MTA deck does not have provisions for mounting the older style 400 hitch.

Why can nobody just mount a quick hitch to the lift arms of a fsat hitch then they don't have to fiddle with a top third link at all. The hook on the top would connect the third pin and also allow the bottom pins to set in the hooks so allone would have to do is flip the latch levers. Would be so much easier than making the top link and fighting to get the pins aligned with the holes for the arms. Biggest reason I hate 3pt equipment.

I agree. It would be like this, but with the hook for the top link. Shorten the side arms, too.
