Head on a H

My 43 H has a cracked head between 2 and 3 cylinders. Its not affecting the cylinders but does leak a little water into the oil. Shop thought maybe it could be sealed but that hasn't worked. I've got a chance
at getting a super H head near me. Will it bolt right on without affecting anything else like the manifold or valve train, etc. What is the difference between a regular H head and a Super H head.

If I remember right, kerosene heads were different than gas. Not sure about distilate, if they were same as kero, or different yet. Anyways, you might pay attention to that, or you might end up changing pistons out to make the different one work.

Depends on head casting number. If a gas head 8043DC or a lower letter suffix the 8043DD SH head has the sharp edge of combustion chamber on one side rounded or slanted compared to the others. Supposed to help combustion a little. Other SH heads will also bolt on a H and use the H manifold. H and SH heads use the same valves unless a latter replacement head was used. Like head 362533R1 that ended up being a replacement head for H through 350 gasoline.

I had a shop that grinds cranks spray weld the cracks in the deck of my SC block maybe 10 (15?) years ago. It has never leaked. Same process might work for your head if it is just leaking water into the oil. After that it probably depends on how much work ( valves, guides, skimming, etc.) you need to do to the SH head vs. yours to use it. And of course if that service is not available nearby...

Well that head can be repaired with the drill tap and pin or as called COLD welded then a bottle of Iron tite run thur the system . . Not many do his anymore . and yes you can drop that s/h head on .

I have a head here for a 43 H that I believe is good that you can have cheap. I am 60 miles north of milwaukee. I just started parting out the whole tractor.

Thanks for the offer but the one I'm looking at is not far from my house so no shipping cost. Not sure on the price yet.

The Super H through 350 head will bolt right on and will have a higher compression ratio so it should improve performance. Is it a 6 volt or 12 volt system?
The only downside is starting it on 6 volt in the winter could be an issue.

Suggestion: I told by about a place in Cleveland on east 43 street (sorry name escapes me now but I can get it for you) that my friend Bob sent his MD head to be repaired . Bob said his head had Five cracks in it . Got it back and it works perfectly. If they can do a M diesel , then no problem with an H . Reply if you want there name address and phone number.
