Do those hoppers take the standard plates? If so, I would think a 1977A or 1978A edge drop would do the trick. How long are those kernels? I have a couple manuals that have the hole dimensions listed in them. They get down into the 32nds & 64ths of an inch if you're wondering about how exact they are.

Good topic ,Im learning ! Ive got a C with mounted planter , never seen that seed box ,mine are round Richmond I think anyway keep going more pictures please

I do not know the number but mine says Corn Medium Flat. Back in the day we had to buy large flat seed to prevent double drops especially on the back of terraces with the high wheel on the left.

For those trying to help this planter was not a rotating bottom planter but a plate lift planter aka the old Cole mule drawn planters. The more I think about it the more I think there may be other issues. The plates may not be properly seated allowing flat corn grains to get underneath. I know that the tolerance IH used was somewhat loose and you can forget using these planters to plant small seed such as Millet or Mustard. The plate retainer has to be tight and as long as you do not strip out the threads you can't over tighten. Corn seed should not get under the plates so be sure you have them properly seated and the wing nut is tight.

dennis i will try to get better pics of tractor set up and duplex boxes...when i get back planting...and Lmack thanks, yes thats what was happening..plate covers where tight on one ,the other looked like they could get under there, and were...they were getting under both sides.....dewy

I see that the frame mounts you have were made for the C or early SC without two point hitch. The right frame should be getting into the valve or piping for the rear cylinder lift valve. The frames IH made for the SC and later units corrected that by extending the transfer pullies to the outside and shortening the rear shaft on the inside. The transfer pullies were necessary to carry the chain drives to the fertilizer hoppers in line so that fertilizer could be applied without the seed hopper frames in place. I had the same problem on my 200 and the fix was to move the transfer pullies to the inside of the frame (there are already drilled holes in the drive shafts to allow you to do that) and was able to cut enough of the rear shaft (Right side only) to clear the hydraulic valve box. I will try to get you a picture tomorrow.
