Sealing H Tranny Cover Bolts

I just finished replacing the shift fork springs and balls on one of H's. I am going to replace all the 7/16" bolts on the cover plate. What do you use to seal up the bolts in the cover? This one doesn't sit out side much, but I would like to try and water proof these bolts since they sit in a sump when wet. On my C I found stainless/neoprene sealing washers and used those. The bolts on the C were 3/8". McMaster-Carr doesn't list any 7/16" sealing washers. Your thoughts...

Get some skid proof, 3-M product, that comes on a roll, and 4 inches wide, it got a adhesieve side, cut to length with a tin snips, or a scissor and lay it over the row of bolts from the clutch and brake pedals back, i did about 6 years ago, it's still on there!

Put a skinny bead of silicone sealant around the bolt below the bolt head. If using lock washers, put lockwasher on first, then the bead of silicone "beneath" it.

If you don't overdo it it won't even show or affect painting, but will keep moisture from getting pas the bolt down into the threads.

If I remember right our 1943 H had copper washers under the bolt heads. Never had any trouble with water getting and it sat outside year round.

I second Bob?s suggestions on using silicone sealer ...RTV... under the bolt heads. A small dab like equal to 2
kernels of wheat or 3 mouse turds. They will be sealed no muss or fuss. If you are going to paint it after 5
minutes squirt some carb or brake cleaner on a rags and give the heads a quick wipe.
